Tempe, Arizona | 3,000 sq. ft. | completed 2024
Hype Studio Architecture collaborated with renowned restaurateur, Aaron Chamberlin, acclaimed artist Gennaro Garcia, and talented concept chef Chef Suny to design a new Tempe location for their celebrated Mexican food concept, originally established in Phoenix. Working closely with the creative team, Hype Studio translated the soul of Mexican hospitality into a vibrant architectural experience.
The design draws inspiration from traditional Mexican craftsmanship, featuring materials sourced directly from Mexico by Garcia—from hand-painted tiles to natural woods and artisanal textures—that lend the space both visual richness and tactile authenticity. Warm tones, colorful accents, and layered details evoke the spirit of Mexican culture while maintaining a modern sensibility suited to downtown Tempe.
The result is a welcoming and expressive dining environment that connects guests to the cultural roots behind the cuisine. In partnership with Chamberlin’s hospitality vision, Garcia’s artistry, and Chef Suny’s culinary creativity, Hype Studio shaped a space that embodies the team’s shared passion: bringing the warmth and vibrancy of Mexico to Tempe through thoughtful design and authentic storytelling.
