chandler homestead
Chandler, Arizona | 4,000 sq. ft. | completed 2025
Originally built in 1978, this 4,200-square-foot home in Chandler, Arizona, was ready for a bold transformation. Hype Studio was honored to be approached by the legendary Phoenix architect Eddie Jones with the opportunity to collaborate on both the design and construction of this expansive renovation.
While many rooms retained their original function, nearly every space was stripped to the studs and reimagined. Ceilings were raised and the floor plan carefully optimized to enhance flow, volume, and light. A series of dramatic gable windows were introduced on the eastern side of the home, echoed between the bedroom and living room, creating a soaring, cathedralesque ceiling that now defines the heart of the home.
Outside, the original exterior was sandblasted and completely reclad in durable, sustainable Accoya wood. A new standing seam metal roof completes the contemporary overhaul — both elevating the aesthetic and ensuring long-term protection from the harsh desert elements.
Natural daylight now reaches nearly every inch of the home thanks to expanded fenestration, blurring the line between interior and exterior living. The result is a modern, light-filled sanctuary — a testament to collaboration, craft, and the power of reimagining what a home can be.
